Dr. Nita Valikodath completed her undergraduate studies at Wayne State University (B.S in Biological Sciences) in Detroit, MI and her Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor, MI. She also received a Master of Science degree in Clinical Research at the University of Michigan. She completed her transitional year internship at the University of Chicago-NorthShore Health System in Evanston, IL. Currently, she is an Ophthalmology resident at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Dr. Valikodath currently works with Dr. Chan and his team in areas regarding telemedicine and artificial intelligence, resident and medical student education, retinopathy of prematurity, and global health. During residency, she had the opportunity to travel to Aravind Eye Hospital to observe the ROP screening program in South India. In addition, she volunteered with Orbis in Accra, Ghana to help educate residents in indirect ophthalmoscopy. She also designed and evaluated a surgical curriculum for residents and is involved in research assessing a surgical course for vitreoretinal fellows.
